The School District of Indian River County will be hosting a Homeschool Forum on July 14th, 2022.
It will be held 5:30PM-6:30PM at the SDIRC Office with Joe N. Idlette with the Teacher Education Center.
The forum will be to inform Homeschool Parents how they can involve their children in “local secondary school activities and courses.”
School Board Member Jackie Rosario (District 2) said regarding the Home School Forum: “This is the second year the district will host this Homeschool Forum. I have worked hard to ensure the district would rebuild trust, and establish a respectful relationship between the homeschool community and the School District of Indian River County.
We have come a long way. The creation of a new Homeschool Office providing consistent communication, assistance when needed, and resources for those homeschoolers who request help has been a tremendous success. Every homeschool family homeschools differently.
Some provide direct instruction, some through a tutor or coops, while others may choose to enroll their student in one of the many sports teams, after school clubs and activities, even band, orchestra, or one of the performing arts programs offered in our schools.
That is why this optional forum is so helpful. As homeschool families begin to plan their new school year, the School District of Indian River County will once again rally behind the homeschool community and share all courses, dual enrollment programs, as well as all of the extra curricula activities the district offers.”
