Sebastian Veterans Council to discuss Veterans Day and Pearl Harbor Day Events on Monday November 1st

October 26, 2021

Monday November 1st, the Sebastian Veterans Council will be meeting at 3PM in the Sebastian City Council Chambers. They will discuss planning the Veterans Day and Pearl Harbor Day Events in the City. This meeting will determine which event the American Legion will plan and which event the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will be planning this year. Usually each year, one group has the Veterans Day event while the other does the Pearl Harbor Day event.

It is highly encouraged for Sebastian Veterans to attend this meeting as these events are about them. Sebastian VFW and American Legion members should attend as well since this meeting will involve their groups as well.

City staff will also discuss Veteran’s Groups and their “involvement” Sebastian Christmas Parade, according to the meeting agenda for this Monday.

The agenda can be found here for those that would like to read it.

Brian Benton, who serves as the City of Sebastian’s Veterans Liaison to the Sebastian Veterans Advisory Council, told Indian River News he would “like to see more community involvement in our local government” regarding the lack of turn out and resident involvement in some of our local meetings, including the Veterans Council. Benton also serves as Leisure Services Director for the City of Sebastian.
