Multiple Candidates for Indian River County have won unopposed.
Republican Erin Grall won the State Senate 29 seat unopposed. She will not have any challengers for the Seat in the August 23rd Primary and the November 8th Election. She currently serves as a State Representative representing Indian River County in the Florida State House of Representatives. She will continue to serve as State Representative until she takes offices as a State Senator.
Internal Medicine Doctor and Father of 3, Dr. Gene Posca MD won the School District of Indian River County District 1 seat unopposed. He will not have any challengers for the Seat in the August 23rd Primary and the November 8th Election.
Both Bruce Green and Jim Parla dropped out of the IRC School Board District 1 race.
Dr. Posca posted on Facebook about his win, which stated:
Our campaign is thrilled to announce that the Indian River Community was so supportive of our campaign that I won the election today at noon when qualifying closed and I was unopposed. I take this solemn trust seriously and will work hard to earn this support with every decision we make and to reinforce the values of our community. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and look forward to beginning the healing in our district when I’m sworn in this November.

Grant-Valkaria Founding Father and Space Coast Young Republican Bobby Putnam had commented on the post “That’s is fantastic and great choice!!” regarding Dr. Posca’s win.
IRC Republican Executive Committee State Committeeman and Former IRC District 1 School Board Member Shawn Frost commented on the post regarding Dr. Posca’s win “A testament to his leadership and vision that he remained unopposed. It’s exciting to see young conservatives taking the baton from we elder conservatives.”
Frost was Chairman of the Indian River County School Board in 2018 before deciding to not seek reelect that year.
Dr. Posca winning this seat is a big win for Conservatives in Indian River County as the current member of the School Board from District 1, Dr. Martha “Mara” Schiff Ph.D is a liberal in her political ideology.
Many have been critical of Restorative Justice as being ineffective for handling disciplinary issues in public schools, specifically at the Middle School and High School Levels. Dr. Schiff is President of Peaceworks Consulting that does consulting for Restorative Justice, according to her LinkedIn Profile.
Dr. Schiff’s Ph.D is in Public Administration, specializing in Public Policy and Criminal Justice, according to her LinkedIn Profile.

Kerry Bartlett won unopposed for Indian River County Hospital District – Seat 6
David L. Cox won unopposed for the IRC Soil & Water Conservative District – Seat 2
Bill Marine won unopposed for the IRC Soil & Water Conservative District – Seat 5
