The State of Florida is now accepting applications for the reestablished Florida State Guard, according to a Press Release put out recently by Governor DeSantis’ office.
According to the Press Release, the Director of the Florida State Guard “will be in charge of the 400 guard members and will oversee recruitment, training and mobilization of the force in the event of an emergency. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in military style operations, emergency management, leadership and problem solving.”

The Florida State Guard will fall directly under the command of the Governor of Florida. The President of the United States cannot use the Florida State Guard in the same manner he can use the Florida National Guard.
Those who wish to apply to be a General Volunteer have to meet the following requirements, which are the same for the Florida National Guard:
Florida resident between the ages of 18 and 60, with a desire to serve the state.
Willingness to work in a team.
Tactical or emergency response knowledge.
Ability to pass a physical.
Ability to participate in annual weekend training.
