The Indian River County Supervisor of Elections issued a Press Release, with IRC Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan reminding residents if they want to register to vote or change their party affiliation prior to the August 23rd Primary, “the time to do so is now.”
It says the “deadline to register to vote or change your party affiliation is July 25th.”
The Press Release also said the State of Florida is a “closed-primary state.” This means to vote in a Partisan-Primary, voters must be registered to the Party of their choice.
The Press Release added that since County Commission Districts 2 and 4 have only Republicans running in that race, that “all registered voters may vote in those races.”
If a citizen in the County wishes to register to vote or update their voter registration, according to the Press Release, they can go to VoteIndianRiver.gov. Once on the website, they can select on the navbar “I Want To …” Once either the drop down shows up or they are on the “I Want To …” page, select all the way at the bottom “Register to Vote”
On the “Register to Vote” page, will be instructions on what to do on how to Register to Vote online.
Alternatively, citizens can stop in to the Supervisor of Elections Office in person to fill out a form to change their voter registration.
The address for the Supervisor of Elections Office is 4375 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967. Their hours are Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
Per the Press Release, any voter registrations or changes in party affiliation received after July 25th will be “processed for future elections.”
